Apocalypse, Final DLC for Black Ops II Revealed

Activision has revealed the final DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, called Apocalypse, which will deliver four maps and the mode 'Origins,' ' the most horrifying and imaginative Zombies experience to date.'

Apocalypse combines the talent of comics illustrator and painter Alex Ross with the band Avenged Sevenfold, who are contributing the song, 'Shepard of Fire,' to Zombies.

The DLC pack will deliver the following four maps (details from news release):

Pod: A failed utopian community from the 70’s has left stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side in Taiwan. Its residents long gone, the modernist compound now hosts frenetic combat as players must run atop the pods, as well as navigate their multi-tiered interiors for a strategic edge.Frost: Fresh snow meets explosive gunpowder in this snow-capped European city, where the bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal strategies to outsmart and ultimately outshoot their enemies.Takeoff: Fans of “Stadium” from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC will find themselves at home on “Takeoff.” Marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this remote launch site is all about close-quarters combat, combining tight corners with open spaces for intense encounters.Dig: An adaptation of the fan-favorite “Courtyard” from Call of Duty: World at War, where two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan become the perfect playground for combatants eager for hectic, unceasing confrontations. Treyarch, has retained the spirit of “Courtyard” with two major chokepoints, a wide open layout and raised platforms, but has provided fans with a fresh take on the multitude of paths.

Beyond the four maps, Treyarch will include the new game mode, Origins. The company has shed some light on the mode, which helps alleviate some mystery revolving the Origins teaser trailer released Wednesday.

Origins introduces gamers to a 'Dieselpunk-stylized World War I-era France,' where they meet the four leading stars of the first Zombies map: Tank, Nikolai, Takey and Rictofen. The battle will be over Element 115, which was unearthed by the Germans. The battlefield will feature trenches, fields and ancient ruins.

Players are given new tools to fight off the undead horde, including Wonder Weapons, which feature supernatural powers, a diesel-drone and a Mark IV tank, plus new perks and power-ups. But players have more than just zombies to worry about, as they must also contend with a 1,000-foot automaton, eager to make Allied pudding with its big metal feet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II Apocalypse will be available first, exclusively the Xbox 360 starting August 27 for 1200 MS points ( $15). Other platform releases will follow.
